In conversation with Alistair Hudson (scientific-artistic CEO and Chairman of ZKM | Karlsruhe) and Yolande Zola Zoli van der Heide (curator of the exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven), Kim will provide an insight into his artistic creative processes of more than two decades.

With »Protected by roof and right-hand muscles«, ZKM, in cooperation with the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, is presenting the largest solo exhibition to date in Europe by multimedia artist Sung Hwan Kim (born 1975 in Seoul, South Korea).

The artist Sung Hwan Kim, who lives in New York and Honolulu, creates a new kind of storytelling through his works. His multimedia spatial installations interweave film/video, sound, architecture, drawing and text, among other things. The resulting narratives vary with each new arrangement and each viewing, inviting visitors to find subjective approaches to themes such as migration, translation and renewal.

The talk will be followed by a curatorial tour of the exhibition in English with Alistair Hudson at 2:00pm. At 3:00pm there will be a curatorial tour in German with Janina Hilberer.
